Custom Kitchen Cabinets
A kitchen built for your space
Off-the-shelf units rarely fit a Trinidad kitchen exactly. Walls aren't always square, and space for the fridge, stove and gas cylinder varies house to house. Custom cabinets use every inch, including corners and the space above the fridge.
A cabinet maker measures the room, draws up a layout and talks you through materials and finishes. Once you agree the price, the units are built in the workshop and fitted on site, usually over a few days.

Trinidad conditions
Materials that suit our climate
Humidity and steam are hard on cheap particleboard, which swells when it gets wet. Many cabinet makers here use moisture-resistant board or marine plywood for sink units, and treat or avoid timber that termites favour. Ask what's being used under the sink.

Pricing
What affects the price of kitchen cabinets in Trinidad
Every kitchen is different. These are the things a cabinet maker looks at when pricing your job.
| What affects the price | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Size and layout Main factor | Measured in linear feet of base and wall units. Straight, L-shaped and U-shaped kitchens differ a lot. |
| Board and materials Durability | Melamine board costs least. MDF, plywood and solid wood cost more but finish and last differently. |
| Door style and finish Look | Flat melamine doors are simplest. Painted, sprayed, high-gloss and solid-wood doors take longer. |
| Hardware Function | Soft-close hinges, full-extension runners, pull-outs and corner units add to the price. |
| Countertop Optional | Laminate, quartz and granite vary widely. Often priced separately from the cabinets. |
| Removal and site work Setup | Taking out old units, uneven walls, plumbing and electrical changes affect the total. |
Every job is priced by the cabinet maker after seeing it, in person or by photo. Ask for the price in writing before work starts.

Custom Kitchen Cabinets: common questions
How long does a custom kitchen take?
It depends on size and the workshop's schedule. Measure to install is often a few weeks, with fitting itself taking a few days. Ask for a timeline with the quote.
What materials are kitchen cabinets made from?
Common options are melamine-faced board, MDF with paint or high-gloss finish, plywood and solid wood. Each has a different price and moisture resistance.
Do I need to buy appliances first?
It helps to know the sizes of your fridge, stove and any built-in oven or microwave so the cabinets fit them exactly.
